2020 Toyota Hilux Debuts With More Power, Updated Design, New Tech

June 5, 2020
The Toyota Hilux has received a much-needed facelift with a host of new upgrades to further strengthen its position. The new Hilux brings more power, an updated design language, and improved tech over its predecessor. The new Hilux gets a striking design upfront. The face has been completely redesigned with a new bold & powerful three-dimensional grille and front bumper treatment. The new muscular design is further enhanced by newly-designed front and rear LED light clusters and 18" alloy wheel design. In the Thailand market where it's launched currently, the new Hilux is available in 4 variants - Hilux Revo B-Cab (for commercials), Hilux Revo Z-Edition (for daily commute or different business operations),  Hilux Revo Prerunner (for families), Hilux Revo Rocco and 4WD (for off-road enthusiasts). Similarly, in the European market, the new Hilux will only be available in the top-of-the-line 'Invincible' grade. The upgraded interior features a new driver's combimeter design, and a new, 8" centre console-mounted infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Customers will also get options to further tailor their vehicles to their own work or leisure requirements. These include a resin sports bar, an electric aluminium roll cover, tailgate locking, a hardtop and a 12v deck-mounted power supply. On the comfort side, the suspension has been largely enhanced and advanced, specifically regarding the heightened shock absorption capability of the installed shock absorbers and leaf spring structure. This significant improvement is meant to further accentuate the car’s greater comfort and convenience similar to riding on a luxury SUV. To ensure extreme off-road conditions, Hilux is one of the few still true to its body-on-frame architecture which can withstand twisting forces better and durable. The Hilux's off-road credentials have been further enhanced by a new electronic function replicating the effect of a mechanical LSD; the lowering of engine speed at idle from 850 to 680 rpm and a tuned accelerator response for greater driver control; an updated VSC system; and a new tyre angle monitor. The new Hilux powertrain range has been bolstered by the addition of a new, more powerful 2.8 litre, 204 hp diesel engine, equipping the Toyota pick-up with highly competitive performance in its segment. Generating 500 Nm* of torque, this new engine will accelerate the Hilux from 0-100 km/h in just 10.0 seconds (2.8 seconds faster than the existing 2.4-litre unit), whilst returning a company claimed average fuel consumption of 7.8 l/100 km.The new Hilux is priced between 544,000 THB - 1,239,000 THB (Nrs 20.67L- 47.07L). It is available in 40 variant with 8 exterior shades.
