Sonalika Tractors has launched India’s first field-ready electric tractor, called ‘Tiger Electric' at a price of INR 5,99,000. Sonalika says the eco-friendly tractor has been designed in Europe and developed in-house with proven aggregates to deliver seamless power as well as emission-free, noiseless farming. The Tiger Electric is manufactured at Sonalika’s World tractor manufacturing plant at Hoshiarpur in Punjab. The plant is powered by robotics and automation and rolls out a new tractor in a takt time of 2 minutes.
The Sonalika Tiger Electric is powered by a state-of-the-art IP67-compliant 25.5 kW natural cooling compact battery. The German-design motor is claimed to offer high torque for the fastest pick-up across any load conditions. Equipped with the proven Sonalika transmission, Tiger Electric has a top speed of 24.93kph and a battery backup of 8 hours while operating with a 2-tonne trolley. Tiger Electric’s battery can be fully charged with a regular home charging point in 10 hours. As an option, the company is also offering a fast-charging system with which the Tiger Electric could be charged in 4 hours. Sonalika claims it enables one-fourth of the running costs of traditionally used diesel-engined tractors. Tiger Electric assures better comfort for farmers as no heat is transferred from the engine and a lesser number of parts make sure that the tractor offers reduced vibration, thereby ensuring lesser product downtime and zero maintenance costs.
