sub-compact SUV has received a 4-Star safety rating in the ASEAN NCAP crash tests. This makes the Nissan Magnite one of the cheapest cars in India with a high safety rating. The Magnite is manufactured only in Tamil Nadu, India. The ASEAN NCAP issued a statement saying, “The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) had recently performed an assessment on the model Nissan Magnite, the second assessed model under the Nissan brand in year 2020”The Nissan Magnite which was launched in India last month is clearly one of the most-awaited cars in our market, too. The sub-compact SUV created quite a buzz due to its aggressive pricing. The Magnite has been built on Nissan’s modular CMF-A+ platform that also underpins the Renault Triber. This particular platform will also be used by Renault for its own sub-4m SUV called the Kiger, which is expected to be launched in India sometime next year.Powering the Magnite are two different 1.0-liter petrol powertrains – a naturally aspirated unit producing 72 PS of maximum power, along with 96 Nm of peak torque, and a turbo petrol unit that makes 100 PS power and 160 Nm torque (152 Nm with CVT). A 5-speed manual gearbox is offered with both the engines as standard, while the turbo petrol unit can also be had with an optional CVT auto. The Magnite gets the roomiest of cabin spaces with features like an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in voice recognition, 360-degree cameras, Nissan Connect that offers 50+ features (geofence, roadside assistance, smartwatch connectivity etc.), and cruise control being part of the package. You get a dual-tone theme with stitched-fabric seats and an all-digital 7-inch TFT instrument cluster for the driver. On the safety front, the Magnite comes equipped with dual frontal airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, around view monitor, a tire pressure monitoring system, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. It also gets front seatbelt reminders as well as a high-speed alert system. The Nissan Magnite which will be launched in the Nepalese market by early February faces stiff competition from
Kia Sonet,
Hyundai Venue
,
Ford Ecosport,

and
