Bajaj Auto has become the first two-wheeler company across the globe to cross a market capitalization of INR 1-lakh crore (around $13.6 billion). The company’s share price closed at INR 3,479 per share on the NSE on January 1, 2021, making it's market capitalization INR 1,00,670.76 crore at this price. This milestone comes as Bajaj celebrates the 75th year of its operations. Bajaj Auto’s current m-cap is 63 percent higher than Hero MotoCorp and 43 percent more than Eicher Motors, its closest peers.
With this feat, Bajaj Auto is not only the most valued company in the two-wheeler segment but also the first-ever two-wheeler company in the world to have reached this market cap milestone. Bajaj Auto’s journey began 75 years ago in India and today, brands like Pulsar, Boxer, Platina, and RE are popular in over 70 countries. The global footprint is being continuously expanded with an entry into Thailand last year, and a proposed entry into Brazil. 2019 saw Bajaj Auto revive its brand Chetak and launch a premium electric scooter. Recently it also announced a major investment of Rs 650 crores in a fourth plant to be built in Chakan, Maharashtra for a premium range of motorcycles and electric two-wheelers.
