The third motorcycling conference organized by Nepal Automobiles Association (NASA) has been held successfully in Kathmandu on August 3 and 4. The conference titled 'Safety, Sustainability and Two Wheel Touring' was attended by more than 150 people. The conference was coordinated by the Mountain Sports Federation and supported and promoted by the FIM and the Nepal Tourism Board. The main sponsor of the program was Surakshya Lubricants.With more than three million motorcycles and scooters in Nepal, there was no consensus on their safety and benefits. Hence, this conference focused on motorcycle safety, tourism promotion through motorcycles, two-wheeled touring through regional events, motorcycles for women's empowerment, tourism board and cooperatives in adventure tourism, proposed destinations for two-wheeler touring, touring marshalling, licensing arrangements, helmet testing and quality helmets, FIM, NASA Nepal, WIMA Nepal, Motorcycle Sports in Nepal. Also, two dozen two-wheeler touring destinations in Nepal were made public at the event.
Member of National Sports Council and President of Mountain Sports Federation Govind Bhattarai, Senior Director of Nepal Tourism Board Hikmat Singh Air, Tracks NGO's CEO Rajni Gandhi from New Delhi, Dr. Kulanthan Mani from Putra University, Malaysia, and Damiano Zamana, Director-FIM. Similarly, Member of Nepal Tourism Board Nawang Nima Sherpa, General Secretary of NASA Nepal Sushil Tandukar, Secretary Santosh Neupane, Pramod Shrestha Goofy and Vinod Tandukar, Marketing Manager of WIMA Nepal and Suraksha Lubricants Anoj Bhandari were also present.
The conference was attended by businessmen and guides from the two-wheeler touring industry, tourism professionals, riders and operators of various travel agencies and members of NASA Nepal. In the first session of the conference, for the first time in Nepal, the training and examination of Touring Marshals were also conducted. At the end of the event, slow bike racing was organized and the winner was given a gift hamper by Phurpa Lama, Managing Director of Safety Lubricants.
