Peugeot To Become Fully Electric in Europe By 2030

December 8, 2021
Peugeot has announced that it is going all-electric for the European market by 2030. Every new Peugeot model launched in Europe by 2030 will be full-electric only, CEO Linda Jackson says, as the Stellantis brand prepares for the transition away from internal combustion engines. The French brand would continue to produce ICE models for other international markets.Peugeot’s switch to battery power will come later than for other manufacturers under the Stellantis umbrella, with DS planning to switch in 2026, Alfa Romeo in 2027, and Opel/Vauxhall in 2028. Fellow ex-PSA brand Citroen has yet to confirm a date for its final ICE models. At some point mid-decade, Stellantis will move all models onto four EV-focused platforms, STLA Small, Medium, Large, and Frame (trucks). Those platforms are designed around full-electric drivetrains but will still have the option of internal-combustion drivetrains for markets or segments where the speed of transition is slower.By 2024, the entire lineup will be electrified, Jackson said. The next scheduled major launch is the next-generation 3008 SUV, which will be built in the full-electric form at Stellantis' factory in Sochaux, eastern France. Peugeot has not revealed details of other powertrain options.
