There's a good news for EV owners! As EV adoption picks up across the country, Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) will now allow EV owners to keep a separate electric meter in their house. EV owners can also opt for a larger capacity meter if their vehicle cannot be charged without the approved load for domestic use.The Electricity Distribution Regulations, 2078 B.S will help increase the consumption of electricity and encourage individuals to opt for electric vehicles, says NEA. NEA's Executive Director Kulman Ghising said that the new customer-friendly electricity distribution regulations have been implemented for the promotion of public charging stations as well.Through the regulations, NEA has also implemented policies for construction and operation of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.Permitted companies will be allowed to set up private charging stations in private houses, offices, private and public places,etc.Institutions operating public charging stations in major urban areas will be given priority.In addition,public institutions will be given priority if they want to operate a public charging station.Provision has also been made to set up a public electric vehicle charging station on public land with the approval of the government.NEA To Construct 52 Charging Stations By April 2022; And How Much You Will Pay For ItImage for reference only.
