Tata Nexon EV Sales Make Nexon India's Largest Selling SUV In Fiscal 2022

For the first time, an SUV is listed among the best-selling cars in India, outperforming hatchbacks. Tata Nexon has become the best-selling SUV in the Indian market in April 2022 recording an astonishing 94% year-on-year growth after selling 13,471 units in April 2022 as compared to April 2021, all thanks to its electric counterpart, Nexon EV. Hyundai Creta followed behind with 12,651 units sold while Suzuki Vitara Brezza came third with 11,764 units sold last month."As the consumer trend is transitioning towards SUVs, we are noticing that our portfolio is growing much stronger and Tata Nexon, since its launch, has been pivotal in accelerating our growth in the SUV segment. Today’s millennial buyers bring in a higher level of consciousness around safety as well as the environment," said Shailesh Chandra, managing director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility. "Tata Nexon, as a brand, has resonated well with these buyers. With the 5-star Global NCAP ratings, it has created benchmarks in the segment. With the Nexon EV, we have diversified our offering and have been successful in creating a niche in the segment."Apart from the regular model, Tata has witnessed significant growth in sales for the Nexon EV too. Sales of the Nexon EV electric stood at 14,248 units against 4,219 units a year ago.

Tata Motors rejoices over the highest sales made by a brand in its portfolio since the Tata Indica which sold over 1,35,000 units, 15 years ago.
