Airoh Develops World’s First Motorcycle Helmet Concept With Integrated Airbag

Italian helmet manufacturer Airoh has revealed an all-new motorcycle helmet concept at the ongoing EICMA 2022 motorcycle expo in Milan, Italy.The latest innovation of Airoh is the world’s first motorcycle helmet concept with an integrated airbag for enhanced head protection and is likely to redefine the perception of helmet safety in the motorcycle industry. This concept was put forward in collaboration with Autoliv (ALV), the worldwide leader in automotive safety systems.For over two years, Airoh and Autoliv conducted a pre-study to define how a motorcycle helmet could be designed with an integrated airbag without critically compromising the design, weight or comfort of a helmet designed with integrated airbag technology.The pre-study testing showed that by combining the two energy-absorbing technologies (helmet and airbag), the linear head acceleration and hence injury risk can be reduced substantially.Even if it is still in the development phase, this is an absolute novelty in the field of motorcycle helmets.
