Frontier Motorsport is hosting Nepal's first Time-Attack Challenge event on December 17th, 2022.
The event which will be organized at a temporary closed circuit on the outskirts of Kathmandu valley is inviting interested participants to bring their own car and race it around the circuit to set the fastest lap time. As per the organizers, participants can bring any type of car (except EVs). The winners will be awarded with various prizes.
The registration fee is Rs 10,000 per driver, which includes fees for all requirements including Nepal Automobiles Association (NASA) 4-wheeler license. Interested individuals can either participate individually and do all the rounds themselves, or they can combine and join a team of up to 3 members and distribute the rounds among themselves. If a car is shared by 2 people as a team, the fee is Rs 12,000 and for 3 people the participating fee is set at Rs 13,000. This means the team members will be sharing seat time.
The event will have 4 total rounds of driving for all drivers including Free Practice, Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3. In Round 3, the top 10 drivers with the highest points will be selected to go to the final round. In each round, drivers will get 4 minutes to set their best lap times. The total of the fastest three laps will be taken.
According to Frontier Motorsport, the objective of the event is to promote motorsport in the country and test the feasibility of running an entire season for a time-attack series in Nepal. Although motorsport is quite an expensive sport, Frontier Motorsport wants to make it as affordable and accessible to encourage motorsport fans and automotive enthusiasts.
